My President, My Leader (a letter to the president)
My President, My Leader
Dear Mr. President,
First of all, I am Ma. Arizen Laurente, one of those who supported you when you were still running for president. I watched your interviews, your vlogs, and your campaigns using the internet. But I'm just one of your silent supporters. I'm silently supporting you but even so, I stand with you.
Since elementary school, I have known the Marcoses as a corrupt, awful family, and the antagonist in the lives of Filipinos. That is how the book introduces you to us. And my whole life, that is what I believed. But one day, your name was brought up for Mrs. Toni Gonzaga-Soriano interviewed you. So, I got curious and watched the interview then, I was stunned. I was amazed by your presence, posture, the way you spoke, and the power in your voice. It was proper, respectful, powerful, and prim. It was part of the characteristics that I thought a great president would have. So, I got all interested with your life and started researching about it and how greatful I am, I saw the other side of the Marcoses. The side where the book didn't include and showed us, the good side of the Marcoses. I found the many good things the Marcoses have done for the sake of the Philippines using the internet. Hence, I started to side with you and supported you in the way I can. I started to give my hopes and trust to you.
Wherefore now, I stopped taking sides with anyone but that doesn't mean I stopped supporting you. I continued supporting your programs and plans for the Philippines but when it comes to your life issues, I decided to keep my mouth shut. I didn't know the truth. I didn't know which is lie and which is the truth. I may have watched videos and read books but that doesn't mean I'm going to trust that information easily. I didn't really see what happened in the past so I hope you understand that I'm not going to defend you in any issues that concerning the past. I don't want to offend the real victims but what I can assure you is that I'd keep supporting your good plans for the Philippines. I'm not going to go against you but instead, I'm going to help you fulfill these good plans and programs in the way I can. I won't be a burden, I won't go talking bad about you, I won't go making complaints, and I'm not going to be on your way, slowing you good plans down.
All in all, I hope that you make all our support worth it. I want you to fulfill or do your plans, not just making one. Talk less but act more. 31 million Filipinos have voted for you and have given their trust on you. So, I hope that you will fulfill your job accordingly until the very end of your term. I hope that you will meet our expectations or even exceed it, and I hope that you will keep your promises. And as your follower, I will do my best to help you fulfill your plans. President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Romualdez Marcos Jr., I want you to know that you and I are as one. We are as one.
Sincerely
yours,
Ma.
Arizen C. Laurente
